Portrait of a young Woman - painted from an old photo

This photograph was taken around 1924 and was still in good condition. The daughter of the nineteen year old in the picture wanted the beauty and grace of her mother to be revealed in color. We were told only the approximate color of her hair and eyes. When painting the face, thousands of colors were applied to resemble natural looking flesh tones. When painting the hair, once again, many colors were used in order to give her a natural look. The background too, was given the same meticulous attention as the subject with the use of countless warm glowing colors. With this portrait painting the artist wanted to immortalize an angelic face in a regal ambiance.
